Greeley G. (“Gregg”) Miklashek, MD(retired)

Gregg wrote in that “I am the author of “STRESS R US”, available for free download in the MAHB Library online. The book, the product of a lifetime of medical research and patient care, develops the theory that our Stress Response has evolved to function as a population regulation mechanism, a well established theory among the numerous referenced reports of animal researchers over the past 60 years. Population density stress results in a chronically over-active stress response (COASTER), characterized by elevated blood and tissue Cortisol levels, which cause the top ten fatal illnesses of modern humans. Were it not for aggressive high-tech medical care, and other public health advances, we would be but a small fraction of our current numbers world-wide, both as a direct result of reduced reproduction and increased death rates.” As part of his pledge he is promoting his book, described above, and joining every discussion on the topic that he can find.
