Diego’s proposal for OVER:

“Actualmente soy profesor de antropología en la Universidad de Costa Rica. Allí imparto el curso “Antropología de la crisis ecológica”, en donde se discuten estos temas. También imparto cursos de investigación y asisto a estudiantes que desarrollan sus proyectos sobre biodiversidad, desarrollo y procesos productivos alternativos.
Al descubrir esta iniciativa, me llamó particularmente la atención el término “overdevelopment” pues basándome en mi investigación, sostengo que el desarrollo (“development”) es de por sí, un proceso que se constituyó como una tesis opuesta a la “naturaleza” (sojuzgarla, someterla, dominarla). Por tal razón, el desarrollo es antitético a al vivir conjunto (oikos), pues cuando un organismo atenta contra su sistema atenta contra la totalidad de la vida.
Es interés propio proseguir mi desarrollo académico en estas líneas, pues estoy firmemente convencido, de que pronto será muy tarde, y el Planeta Tierra enfrentará una debacle ecológica sin precedentes, de la cual no saldremos vivos. Contra eso, y por la vida se debe luchar.”
