Hoa writes, “I just found out about this book and I am thoroughly impressed. It clearly shows the problems of overdevelopment and overpopulation that no one is talking about except for a few. I started the Outdoor Adventure Club at Griffith University Gold Coast a few years ago and I am still helping run it. Although we have many students join each year (200+) studying various degrees (marketing, business, engineering, chemistry, etc.), I still find most students to be ignorant about the global population issues and how it is linked to all of the other issues we face as a society. These are the leaders of tomorrow and I find it unsettling for students that are so into the outdoors not to be recognizant of these issues. This year I am organizing a monthly documentary night where we will showcase documentaries (e.g. Midway, Chasing Ice, Overpopulated) that will inform and engage our members to ask questions about how we are to progress as a society.
Furthermore, I would like to start a book exchange program during these documentary nights within the club. I am requesting 3-5 copies of “Overdevelopment, Overpopulation, Overshoot” to help with this cause as I believe it is a book that should be read by everyone. We will also keep one book in our club area fo anyone to read. We hope that having these physical books will help spread the message from members to members and eventually to other students. Since we have so many international students that join the club every year, the ideas and awareness will reach other countries when they go home to their family and friends.”
There are many ways to participate! Together, we can raise awareness and bring about change.
