Impact Narrative

Patrick’s plan for OVER:

“I teach AP Environmental Science and Biology II: Ecology & Environmental Science at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA. Population growth is a major theme throughout both of these courses, and it would be great to use the book to spark discussion in the classroom. We have about 100 students who take APES, and about 200 that take Biology II. I have a project that involves students working in groups to research a country of the world, and to profile their environmental issues, and to make connections between the environmental problems, and the root causes, such as population growth and consumerism. This book would be very motivational with its striking images, and help create a sense of urgency for the students. Many students at T.C. Williams were born in other countries and are ELL students. The images in this book from around the world would resonate with these international students.”
