Impact Narrative

Richard’s proposal for OVER:

“I am the Deputy Headteacher of All Saints Junior School in Fleet, Hampshire which has nearly 500 pupils. We are a Church of England aided school and we take our responsibility for looking after our world very seriously. Many of the children’s topics are based on ecological projects and we see ourselves as members of a global community – through our Learning Through Friendship project we have fostered and developed strong links with the Soma school in The Gambia over a 15 year period and the relationship continues to grow and flourish to our mutual benefit.

We currently have 14 classes in school (soon to be 16) and I would like as many copies of the book as possible to share with our children. I know they would be amazed by the images and further inspired to take positive action as they already feel strongly about the plight of our Earth. We also know that our children are very good at persuading their parents to get involved in matters they care about and so just a few copies of the book could have a great impact! We would be able to use the book and the ideas behind it as the basis for many of our Project Based Learning Activities which result in presentations to the whole school community, videos and e-books.

Without wanting to sound too cliched, as children really are our future what better place is there to start making a difference?”
