Impact Narrative

Rosie writes to Speak Out:

“I work as a teacher and a teacher-trainer in an inner-city London primary school. My work involves creating schemes of work for children to develop thinking skills, become aware of their role within society, understand the importance of respecting and loving the world in which they live. Many of the children come from parts of the world where over-population, war, social deprivation are the norm, helping them to be confident and appreciative of their importance is essential, guiding new teachers to understand the way in which we can empower children to accept responsibility for the future is equally so. The book will form a basis to new schemes of work, guidance to improve the current curriculum – most particularly in the schools where such issues are not highlighted. We need schools to become better informed of wider perspectives when we work within the confines of a narrowing curriculum.”
