There are more than 100,000 children in foster care in the US hoping that today they will finally be adopted. On average, these children spend about four years waiting to be adopted and they are the lucky ones. Every year 23,000 children age out of the foster system without a family to come home to. National Adoption Day was created to raise awareness around these sobering facts and to celebrate adoptions. It also functions as a day to help finalize adoptions by working with policy makers, practitioners, and advocates in the field.
If you have a specific National Adoption Day activity you would like featured on the Speak Out site, please contact us to submit your activity.
There are many ways to participate! Together, we can raise awareness and bring about change.
