David Johns has served as a board member of the Conservation Biology Institute, a society focused on biodiversity conservation, since 1997 and currently teaches as an adjunct professor of politics and law at Portland State University’s School of Government. A graduate of Columbia University, Johns served in the Office of the Secretary of Transportation in the Carter Administration, and is co-founder of several NGO’s including, Wildlands Network and Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiatives.
Johns is author of, A New Conservation Politics (2009), and was a founding co-editor of New Political Science. His current research focuses on the successes and failures of social movements, and he continues to speak about and publish material dedicated to conservation politics and the importance of biodiversity.
