“Global population growth is at the root of the survival challenges we face as a species; indeed, all earth’s living organisms face the same peril. If we stay the current course, the consequences of unbridled human activity will lead to unfathomable changes in life as we know it. I view the Speak Out initiative as a great opportunity to change that outcome.
I plan to integrate Speak Out information and statistics — including copies of Overdevelopment, Overpopulation, Overshoot — into the local 2016 election cycle. Copies will be provided to the campaign staff of the Democratic candidate in Virginia’s 34th District — likely to be Kathleen Murphy. Our goal is to elect a new U.S. House representative who embraces climate change — along with its scientific bases — and integrates population and environmental realities into the legislative process. Today, our representative does not support science-based decision making and denies the existence and urgency of dealing with climate change.”
