James is with Fauna & Flora International (FFI), a non-governmental organization, committed to supporting global conservation efforts.
Here is his proposal for OVER:
“In Brazil, we work with businesses, communities and schools to raise awareness about biodiversity and ecosystem services and their importance to ourselves as humans and to future generations. We recognize that for real change to happen with regard to the over-use of natural resources, a cultural shift needs to take place, involving a rethink about our relationship with consumption.
The photos that you share in your fantastic book address this issue head on: how do we become aware that our actions as consumers have a global impact that will, eventually, come back to haunt us?
We are interested in using your book in Brazil to share the message about the link between consumption and conservation. We would share copies with our NGO partners (SPVS, Nucleo de Educação Ambiental Piracicaba), schools (several in Minas Gerais and Paraná States) and businesses (we have partnerships with a number of agricultural and mining companies in Brazil), who can use the book as a tool to encourage new ways of thinking – and behaving – with regard to consumption.”
There are many ways to participate! Together, we can raise awareness and bring about change.
