Septrin John’s Speak Out proposal:
“I am a part-time lecturer in a university here in the Philippines. I am teaching Sociology. I will share these books by integrating into our curriculum and share these to the students and other faculty members. I also believe that the books are relevant references for our researches. We are also doing community extensions and research with collaborations to non-government organizations and we envision to help the people by capacitating them, provide them assistance to face and fight the unfavorable realities today. By then, these books are great sources of knowledge so that we can have more ideas to share to the society.
Like now, we have projects in the communities which are prone to natural hazards and strengthen them by giving small projects in accordance with disaster risk reduction management and climate change adaptation. Another thing is we are adopting a highly marginalized ethnic community and provide them literacy and livelihood programs. These efforts were achieved through collaborations with the local community and other government and non-government agencies.
With that, I know that these books will be necessary supplement to our knowledge generation.”
There are many ways to participate! Together, we can raise awareness and bring about change.
