Bernadette is an ecologist interested in sustainability and the future of all life on earth. She wears two hats, one as a professor of biology (ecology, plant-animal interactions, environmental biology) at Loyola University Maryland, where she is the director of the upcoming new minor in Environmental and Sustainability Studies. The other is as a lay preacher in the Episcopal Church of Maryland, where she delivers sermons on care of creation and why we are compelled as moral human beings to share the planet equitably with all of creation. She will share 5 copies of OVER with colleagues at Loyola, students in the Environmental Action Club at Loyola, and various people in leadership in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, including the Bishop and various Cannons. Bernadette notes she plans to spend the entire rest of my life speaking out about overdevelopment and overpopulation as the two most important ethical issues of our century, and is confident that OVER — with its alternative creation story fable, and its powerful photographs — can help her make her points. She will try to get photos/videos of people holding the book as she distributes the copies.
There are many ways to participate! Together, we can raise awareness and bring about change.
